Capital Structure

¥750K–2M in grants through community trust

Mujin operates a revolving grant fund, not a loan program. Capital is disbursed through a moral repayment covenant — not a legally enforced debt. Repayment is driven by community accountability and honor dynamics, not courts or collectors.

80-90% expected repayment means your charitable dollar funds two entrepreneurs. Repayments flow back into the fund and are redeployed to new grants — sustainable capital that keeps working.

Moral covenant, not legal debt

Grants are disbursed with a moral repayment covenant. No legal enforcement. Community accountability drives repayment.

85% community repayment

Because when your pastor vouched for you, you don't let them down. Honor dynamics and relationship drive results.

5% program fee

Optional, for operational sustainability. Covers coordination, technology, training, and reporting infrastructure.

Hardship protocol

If you face difficulty, timelines are restructured and support services increase. Mujin never pursues legal recovery.

Meet the people behind the numbers.

I had the business plan. I had the community support. What I didn't have was a bank that would listen. My agency worker understood what a credit algorithm never could — that I show up, that I give back, that my neighbors trust me. That trust became my capital.

Foreign entrepreneurs in Japan face a credit system that doesn't see them. I had been in my community for five years, running a small business, raising my family. Banks couldn't verify what my neighbors already knew. Through Mujin, my community standing became my strongest asset.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much capital can I access?
Grants range from ¥750K to ¥2M (approximately $5K–$13K USD), with an average grant size of ¥1.35M. The amount depends on your business or ministry needs, community verification, and the assessment by your agency worker.
Is this a loan or a grant?
Mujin operates a revolving grant fund, not a loan program. Capital is disbursed through a moral repayment covenant — not a legally enforced debt. Repayment is driven by community accountability and honor dynamics. 85% of recipients repay, and those repayments fund the next entrepreneur.
Do I need a credit score or collateral?
No. Mujin uses community trust verification instead of traditional credit scores or collateral requirements. Your community standing — verified through mission agency worker relationships, church pastoral references, and business reputation — is what qualifies you.
Can foreign residents apply?
Yes. Mujin serves both Japanese nationals and foreign resident entrepreneurs. If you lack Japanese credit history but are embedded in community life and building a real business, you are eligible. Trust verification bypasses discriminatory credit systems.
What happens if I can't repay?
Mujin never pursues legal recovery. If you face difficulty, your timeline is restructured and support services increase. The borrower hardship protocol is designed around dignity — we increase mentoring, adjust expectations, and walk with you through the challenge.
What support do I receive beyond capital?
Every borrower receives wrap-around services: business mentoring, financial guidance, ministry support, network access to other Christian entrepreneurs, spiritual encouragement, community integration, peer learning events, and legal/compliance guidance. This is a full support ecosystem, not just a check.
How do I connect with an agency worker?
Submit the contact form below with your name, location, and a brief description of your business or ministry. A team member will connect you with an agency worker in your area within 3 business days.
What is the borrower journey timeline?
From application through graduation typically spans 12 months. This includes verification, approval and disbursement, active support during months 1-6, sustained growth during months 6-12, and graduation. After graduating, you join the alumni network and can become a mentor and trust verifier for new applicants.
Is my personal data protected?
Yes. All borrower data is stored in Japan-compliant infrastructure under APPI (Japan's Act on Protection of Personal Information). You own your data. Religious affiliation is handled as special care-required personal information. We collect only what is needed for verification and support, and we never sell or share data with third parties.
